(February 12,2007. Oak View, CA) Meandering Press announced today a search for submissions for its upcoming book, Dissed! The Real Deal on Writing Dissertations & Theses, from Actual Survivors.
The Press is seeking essays and anecdotes from university graduates who have written bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral theses on the writing process, its triumphs and its vicissitudes. The book seeks to engage and entertain students about to embark on this process, giving them warnings of the shoals ahead while letting them know that the channel is passable.
Meandering Press publisher and Project Editor Leigh Melander, Ph.D., states, “Writing a thesis or dissertation is a unique journey, most often without a guidebook and frequently seemingly without a translator. This book will both celebrate that process and acknowledge its challenges.”
Dissed! will be a combination of funny and insightful short anecdotes and essays on the solutions that writers of such papers have conjured up as they have worked to complete the paper. It is open to students and/or graduates in all academic disciplines.
One winning entry will be chosen, the author of which will be offered a full editorial analysis of their book manuscript and the possibility of a publishing contract for that book with Meandering Press.
